I have installed drop spindles and a 1” coil spring on the front and a flip kit on the rear. Going to order some new shocks and don’t know what to get. I got shock extenders for the rear. Looks like it’s gonna be a ***** to mount them on the rear with the flip kit. Any recommendations on shocks?

Bell tech is what I was looking at but yeah I don’t think
I can justify spending that much on shocks.

You might be better off with just the stock shocks and shock relocators.

I did the summit shocks without relocators. 2” lower coils and spindles

Since you have relocators for the rear you can use stock replacement shocks all the way around. I like KYB personally.

stock should be fine with only 1" coil.

Nope I'm running stock replacement shocks on my truck with bags. They have plenty of travel and shouldn't need relocators. You have really only decreased your suspension travel by 1" a drop spindle doesn't effect shock travel/selection.

Thanks for the responses. Definitely would rather hit a local parts house instead of waiting on shocks to come in

I normally like KYB shocks and have run them on a couple of muscle cars that were lowered with great success. Just the basic Gas-A-Just ones - I am sure you can find some with the same measurements eye to eye extended and compressed as the "lowering shocks." Personally, I'm running Belltech lowering shocks (only installed in the rear right now with the flip kit) and am happy with how they control the rear suspension movement. A lot better than the full length air shocks that were in there. Once I swap in the front springs (DJM 2" lowering springs) I'll put the new front shocks in at the same time, also Belltech shocks.

What in the world are you talking about?

Doestch tech makes the best lowered shocks and I've tried quite a few. With that being said you only have a 1" lower front suspension as far as the shock is concerned and not much if any difference in back with the extenders in there so you don't need lowered shocks. My 78 still has oem shocks with 2" coils up front no problem.

Got shocks ordered. Went with the gas-a-just kyb’s. Sandblasting and painting the rear end tomorrow and was just mocking everything up. Any advice how I’m gonna mount the shock extenders or even drop shocks with the flip kit plate in the way

I ground the plate to clear the bolt head. Over the winter I'm putting Calvert bars on, and at which time I'm going relocate the shock mounts.

If there would be enough to grind down to get the bolt in.

you can buy a complete quality coilover kit for that price
i have a 4/6 drop and i cross referenced shocks and lenghts and ended up spending roughly $100 on very good quality shocks.

Can you remove the plate, install the shock bolt so the head is on the plate side, then put the plate back on?
