What is this??
This "canister" was under my battery case and secured by one bracket. A single 5/16 hose was attached and connected to a steel line inside the frame and towards the rear of the engine, or. . . . . ?
It's about the size an old oil can, has an opening in the bottom and some sort of packing inside. No one at any of the part stores has any idea. I have the original LS9 350 engine in my C10. |

Thanks, but I'm serious about no one able to tell me what it was, including O'Reilly and NPD.. . . . and I've never seen one in the engine compartment, and I'm 76: )

X2, They have been a standard item since early 70's on every vehicle produced for the USA. They may look different from model to model but they all have them.

Re: What is this??
Parts store clerks (they're no longer parts guys) are getting dumber. A few examples:
Walked into NAPA, asked for plugs and wires for my 97 1 ton. Clerk asks, "Is that gas or diesel?" Same NAPA store, different clerk. I ask for a gasket for a Chevy 12 bolt. She brings me one with 14 bolt holes and says, "I think this is the right one." O'Reilly: I walk in and ask for a hose (using THEIR part number) for my 97 Z28. Clerk asks, "Is that a Nissan?" When I tell him it's a Chevy he says he's never hear of it.

Re: What is this??
Yeaaa, the help at parts stores is bad. Was at the drag strip sunday and my buddy had carb issues so we ran down to autozone and advance looking for a float and bowl gaskets. Everyone just wanted to ask us year make model...

Re: What is this??
The guys at my local Bumper to Bumper still know cars...it may be the last stand. The local Napa is ok, but starting to turn.

Re: What is this??
I believe I have the best parts house story. Dropped by my local house, don’t want to say the name because this is really unbelievable. During the last few years I have noticed a lot of turn over behind the counter. Last time I visited a pregnant women was sitting behind the counter knitting something ? Now I know it’s not political correct to comment on stuff like this but I just can’t believe that can be good for business.
