Squeaky Brakes

breaks squeak when I slow to a stop. Maybe the last 10 mph to stop. Driving me crazy. Easy solution? Take pads off and roughen them up and the routers? Thoughts? Only about 4,000 miles on the pads

Thanks

Re: Squeaky Brakes

It’s not the pads on the rotors?

Re: Squeaky Brakes

I used to put goop on all my disc brake pads in the old days. That was the only way to keep them from squeaking. Nowadays I never use it since pads already have some kind of spacer on them that seems to keep them quiet. If I had to look at them again due to squeaking I would put the disc quiet stuff on them. Actually the last stuff I bought was aerosol and had a cool smell that reminded me of some toy making goop I used to play with as a kid. I did like the way the aerosol went on though.

Re: Squeaky Brakes

well known as disc quiet stuff, ante squeak, squeak stop, and there one or two more.
anti seize will work on the back will not work as long term/anti squeak grease will work for longer but some times lefts off a little bit has to redone make sure it clean before putting on new stuff.
But if the pads are still pretty thick check the wear bracket it maybe bent to close some time they get bent they have be set in the right place. Some where between 1/2-1/4 of the pad. You can set them with a feeler gauge, just measure the new pads put as mean feeler gauges 1/2" they squeak you re check clean and re-a just and then bend wear bracket to 1/4" the next time you hear it should be time to change.
But it maybe something else. Look them over well.
