How to fix a broken frame
I am wanting to buy a friends 91 Chevrolet 1 ton crewcab. But the frame has broke right behind the motor mounts on both sides of the frame. It still is holding together some how, and you can see where it had broke before and was just welded back to together. I was wondering if it could be fixed permently by fishboneing it or boxing the frame there, are posibly cutting the front out the frame off under the cab and welding in a new front peice. I would it just be easier to get a whole nother frame.
The truck has a 6.2 desiel in it so I know there is a lot of weight on the front end. I looking for good segestions on fixing it, if it can be fixed.

I would make sure the frame is straight then pull the motor. Depending upon how bad it is cracked you may want to box it as said. A good weld should have held. I would also have this done by a certified welder as the reason it may not have held the first time was probably due to the area not being prepped right.

Thanks For the replays. That fix doesn't sound to hard. I can get my brother to weld it up and save some cash. He owes me for all the work I did I to his p.o.s ford.
