What is right
Someone told me I should put a vent on my valve cover. Someone else said that I shouldn't. They said you don't want to use a vent when you have a pcv valve. I don't know anything about this. What is right? Someone else suggested that the proper way is to put pcv valve on one valve cover at back of motor and vent on other valve cover at front of motor. Or does any of this even matter. Thanks a lot.

PCV on on cover,& a vent on the other cover. I would prefer to have the PCV at the front.......69 longhorn.

The PCV is the vent "Postive Crankcase Ventilation" valve if I remember correctly. No other vent wanted. That was the purpose of it - recycle crankcase fumes thru the carb.

It needs a vent on the opposite cover.....if you look at the stock setup,it has a PCV in 1 cover,& the other cover has a tube running to the breather. On the older than 68 setups, the PCV screwed into the carb,& had a hose to the rear of the block.....& had a vented cap on the fill tube.......69 longhorn.

It needs a vent in one cover to let air into the crankcase. Otherwise the pcv will suck a hard vacuum in the engine at times.

If ya look, I have a breather on the drivers side. Near the upper rad. hose. Then I have a hose running from the base of my carb, to the PCV valve on the passenger side. That's how I have mine set up.

you need a vent with the pcv valve, or you're going to draw too much vacuum in the crankcase. If the valve covers were not designed for the pcv, you may want to find some that are, as you need an oil deflector under the pcv valve to prevent sucking oil up into the carb.
