Door dodads - where to get them?

Hi guys hope you can help me out, I have a 69/71 GMC basket case with one 72 door, blah, blah blah, ha ha

anyway I wanted to bolt up my metal door panels to at least the right door when I realized the door handle snap in nuts were rusted and there were broken off 1/4" bolts in the bottom welded in nuts, when I tried to unscrew one the whole nut just came out

so.... where can I get the weld in nuts? where can I get the snap in nuts? and where can I get some stainless steel screws for the top of the door panel retainer strip (and what size are they #10? etc.) and the 1/4" stainless bolts with them tappered heads to mount fluch for the bottom, please?

hope you can follow all that, I can be all over the place, but I just love this heep pile to death and want to do something right in it

Go to the parts store and get some nylon license plate retainers that snap into the square holes in the bumper....

Those look like the nuts that are used on a server rack.

yeah I thought so too, and I'm even a computer guy, but for some reason it didn't seem fit to use computer parts on a truck, ha ha

Re: Door dodads - where to get them?

truck shop in orange calls them 'arm rest cage nuts' p/n 60-02921 4 bits ea

page 26 https://issuu.com/truckandcarshop/docs/ts_60-72_web

classic parts calls them out for 60-66 in steel (1960-66) Arm Rest Cage Nut, but plastic for 67-72 (1967-72) Arm Rest Retainer Nut

more ideas in older thread - Source for captured nut to mount arm rest?

1/4-20 cage nuts likely available in your local specialty hardware store too..

good luck!

Re: Door dodads - where to get them?

Excellent- thanks for posting this. I had a couple come out on my ‘68 suburban. I filed the holes and migged in a couple nuts but I think one came loose already.
