Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
Wish I been able to take more shots of this truck but I was running out of chip space on my camera. (Sorry for the pun.) Look it over closely. There are a lot of subtleties that are easy to miss. I also wish the hood had been open, but I checked back several times and no luck.

The General needs to hire Mr. Foose and get this in the 2019 lineup.... I'd buy at least 1.

If the General built it you'd probably have to pay at least $100k to buy one.

Thanks, Jocko! I knew there must have been other board members there. Now I finally get to see what I missed. ;-)

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
The treatment on the front bumper is nice. Looks like the rear may have something similar. Also the style of wheel complements the same.
Good looking machine. -klb

Had not seen the truck before until you posted (thank you!) and the engine suspense was killing me. Was so hoping for simple and not an LS for a change (no offense to anyone), and I think ol Chip nailed it. Would love to have one like this - or even remotely close to like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU7GQNH2u_s Hmm... what if it had perfect condition Ansen slots on it. Naaaaaa....... |

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
weq,
you're right about the rear bumper treatment. Actually, it looked like the bumper treatment would be fairly easy to reproduce, if you were willing to cut up several '67 Camaro bumpers and weld them back together in the correct configuration and have them re chromed, etc. etc. Jocko, I'm totally with you on the LS situation. Great motors, no doubt, but the (formerly equally ubiquitous) small blocks were really a breath of fresh air. I think there are a lot of builders who are looking to dare to be different. There was a patina '49 Merc at the show with an electric motor. |

I wonder if that's a real DZ block!

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
Indeed. But I don't know if a '68 Z/28 ever had AC. I suspect not, since they were used for homologation purposes for Trans/Am racing. I have never seen a '67 or '68 Z/28 with AC, but I'm willing to be educated.

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
Wow that’s really killer. I really like the clean lines and the rear bumper is so cool. Small block is a nice change of pace (wait how the hell did we get to the point of this?) and an original 67 Z motor?! Great colors, no crazy wheel/tire combo, it’s perfect.
Now that electric Merc...I read up on that on the inter web about a month ago. It is perfect.

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
Strangely close to how I did mine.... Chip must be copying me... again... (just kidding).
I used an LS in mine, and went for more of a Corvette theme... and kept the chrome stock on mine. Regardless of the Foose legend, I wouldn't trade. I still like mine better.... |

Sweet truck. Did anybody else notice that Chip’s “SPID” sticker in the window misspelled ammeter? Truck is so nice I had to find something! He is very good at subtle mods.

If United Pacific Isn't making a kit out of that bumper/rollpan combo, they're fools.

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
I'm ambivalent about it up front but I like the fine/thin bumper treatment in the rear. Doesn't make a lot of -sense- for a truck, but looks nice!

You're so deep in your truck and it's so close to perfect, why economize on the SPID? Just my thought!

Re: Chip Foose "C/28" creation at SEMA
I would have called it the Z/10. I guess that one is still left for the one I build
I have seen original bumpers cut down like that. Looks pretty cool on a truck with pans. Did Z/28s have solid lifters? If so, I don't think A/C was available.

JMO...... I like the bumpers & interior. I looked pretty hard but didn't see a 3.73 or 4.11 posi rear on the SPID. I know he's in the wheel business but I think I'd like the truck better with a wheel that looked more like a Chevy car rally wheel, maybe 18". Think I'm glad it didn't get the optional Z28 paint stripes. Maybe with the publicity this lil' 302 will find it's way home to the Z28 it came in. Kinda like a lost dog returns home after many years happy ending story. A 434 Shafiroff SBC could be dressed to look the same in the truck but be more fun. Again, JMO, everybody's got one. I admire his skills.
