Sad Time Fore Me
This was the truck ive had since high school 20 plus years.
i started building it a year ago. fabbed upper arms - pre runner style -beadlocks -40 inch toyo's (cut fenders to fab some flaired fenders) if your on here a lot youve seen other pics of it though out the years. all i can say is im going to rebuild. the truck had a few tarps on it, the sheet metal doesnt look to bad otherwise. this is a result of the camp fire in butte county (nor cal)

I'm sorry about your truck, but I'm glad you're still around.

Heart breaking!! When that happens to your daily driver Honda you collect the check and go shopping. When it happens to a truck you have history with it is something not easily forgotten!

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
Man, that is just brutal, but as others have said, I'm glad you're all right. I can't even imagine how bad it must have been to be there when it was burning, since the smoke down here in Sac was the worst I've ever experienced. The only time it was necessary to close the windows 24/7 to keep the bad air out. I have heard many stories of how fast moving the camp fire was, so again the most important part is you got out, some were not so fortunate. Scary stuff.

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
Glad you are OK. Those fires were crazy and made the one we had a year ago down here (Thomas fire) look like nothing. Luckily there isn't much plastic on those old trucks so maybe if it didnt warp all the sheet metal too bad, it can still be fixed up.

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
That really sucks man.
I have some old parts I could send you to help out. Not much but maybe it would help. Interior small parts and such. You will need everything if you are going to bring this one back. Maybe others have some extras lying around as well they would help out. I knew a guy that his vintage VW bug vert show car burned down. He restored the drivetrain and made it drivable and showed it like that. Burned steering wheel, seats and all...

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
Man that really sucks. I'll echo the others about you being alright. But for the grace of God and a fire extinguisher, that could have been my truck.
you can rename your truck the Phoenix cause it's risen from the ashes. Did you have any insurance?

Is a truck that badly burned salvageable?

Best thing is your ok. I have watched the news on that fire and many people did not make it.
Maybe its time to start anew and think what the future has in store for you. Look to the future, the past is unfortunate, we all have our battles. |

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
.
As others have said...Glad you got out... This is a pic I found online that caught my eye. Our trucks survive fire better than modern vehicles with their rubber/plastics/alloys and ...aluminum suspensions/engines/wheels/etc...

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
It's acceptably repeatable - I'm glad you survived. Your truck took a beating, but in these days where 'patina' is looked upon with a degree of favor perhaps you could put the truck back together and leave that Camp Fire paint job intact.

Re: Sad Time Fore Me
Really sorry that this happened but it could be worse, at least you are still here. This year's fires were unbelievable! The Carr fire wasn't too far from us, didn't get here thank goodness but we were packed to go if it did. We have seen some of the destruction from that one and it's hard to imagine. Then the Camp fire, my gosh what terrible destruction and it happened so fast. Hopefully you can rebuild your truck.... it's gonna be difficult to say the least. Best of luck to you!

Doesn't heat like that remove the temper from the steel rendering it pretty much useless?

Dang. That sucks. Glad you're safe. That was one hot fire. My buddy's dads house got torched down there too. He also got out safe.

My son-in-laws 72 4x4 made it through the fire (parked in magalia) He's making sure it runs now so he can get it out at a future date.
