Frame differences between C30 and K30 1 ton

Hello everyone. New member here so please forgive me in advance if I"m asking a question that has already been covered elsewhere. I am trying to confirm that the frame from a 1976 C-30 1 ton cab on chassis is the same as the K-30 1 ton cab on chassis. I know that the front axle changes to the Dana with the 4wd version but i'm asking specifically about the frame because I am trying to track down a snow plow mount that will work on my truck. Most manufacturers list one for the K series but not the C series.

My truck is a 1976 C-30 1 ton dump. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Allen

Re: Frame differences?

so is your truck 2wd ?

c=2wd
k=4wd

not c=chevy and k=gmc .

the whole front suspension is bolted on a lot different from 2wd to 4wd . were a 4x4 mount bolts in the back half to the frame the 2wd stuff would be in this area along with tie rod ends and other items.

lots of the plow stuff is centered around 4wd . but some older setups did offer 2wd frames just not near as common to find .

i run the older fisher speedcast stuff and here is how it mounts up on a true k30 4x4 mid 80's frame . and even if it was a mm1 or mm2 system the truck side brackets mount in the same area just the stuff at the bumper was different .

and try here for older fisher and even current info / directions and parts break downs with drawings . http://library.fisherplows.com/publications.asp?cat=47

and here is one for the 2wd c-30 http://library.fisherplows.com/fishe...245_071890.pdf its not been made in years but was offered . and looks like they cut the back end off the plates and make the rear mounts and connector bars for it .

hope this info and pics helps . let us know how you make out .

I like those bolt on brackets, are they from a certain plow manufactures mounting package?

Re: Frame differences between C30 and K30 1 ton

The only real difference is suspicious, mounting, and etc. The front actual frame is the same from c30-k30, but rge core support brackets are different (4x4 has the leaf spring hangers built into the mount as the spring hanger) and the leaf springs go back to around a foot in front of the first cab mount. I'd ASSUME, it would bolt up the same? Unless the motor crossmember/cradle gets in the way of the bracketry. On our 2wd's the motor cradle is a lot bigger, in the way. Maybe see if the company has any measurements or a drawing?

Re: Frame differences between C30 and K30 1 ton

be more specific please . i posted a lot of info .

i run old school fisher speedcaster plow stuff like i said . the 8ft-up blade size gets you 3/8 material for the truck side stuff . 7ft 6" down blade size gets you 5/16" material for the truck side .

Re: Frame differences between C30 and K30 1 ton

Missed about the fisher speedcaster, in post#2, I like how they reach back and support the frame. This is a weakness area concern on setup I am working on.

Re: Frame differences between C30 and K30 1 ton

yep i have found fisher to be about the most beefy of the brands .

and dont forget my stuff is old as heck . they quit the hard mount stuff in the 90's i think .

i have a 8ft blade and 9ft blade for my trucks and 3 plow frames and 3 trucks . so i am covered for a long time .
