Krylon Customer Service

I asked Krylon Co. if their Clear Protective Coating would be good on polished aluminum items under the hood etc.
Their answer:
"That surface is too smooth for our Rust Protector Protective Clear Coating to adhere to by itself. It would be best to first use our Automotive Self-Etching Primer, then apply our paint. Regards, Krylon Customer Service."
That works for me.
