GPS tracker suggestions
I did a forum search but didn't find what I was looking for.
I'm looking for suggestions on a gps tracker and hopefully one without a service fee is that even exsists. I have a few anti theft items on the truck but would like to add a basic gps tracker Currently have an alarm system I installed with power locks. Kill switch Thanks! Mark

Re: GPS tracker suggestions
If you're serious and the truck is worth any money, get a LoJack. As far as I recall there's no service fee, at least not under the plan I picked, because I plan to keep the car(s) for a long time.
You could (and I did) make something up on your own with an Arduino and a GPS module, but the cheapest I could find SMS service was $3 a month with T-Mobil and I'm sure that's an intro rate that goes up over time, so there's no free lunch!

Re: GPS tracker suggestions
This other recent thread has suggestions of LoJack by davepl, and a vappusnet device by Sheepdip, and a mystery device that runs for years on a watch battery by stsalvage.
