71 or 72 gmc 4x4 question

My wife bless her heart is visiting a cousin she called and asked if I would be interested in a GMC. Well of course I said. She is going to get more info but her cousin said it is a 3/4 ton step side. Fairly rough but anyway my question is he said it had automatic hubs he said it is a 71 or 72 did they put these on these years? I thought it was later?
help please I may get to own a GMC to go with the Chevy.

1967-71 GMC 3/4 ton long step 4x4 (not sure what year exactly?)

Nope, no auto locking hubs in this era. They never used auto locking hubs until the advent of the NP208 transfer case in 1981. All 4X4s of the '67 - '72 years had Spicer manual locking hubs.

That was what I thought her cousin sure thought it did. Well the update. She bought it for me and it does have the locking hubs like we all thought. It is a 71 GMC 3/4 Stepside. I have not seen it or have any idea much about it. I am going to try to get her cousin to trailer it here pretty soon.
I guess we will see.

UUUMMM Blazer, don't you mean the NP203 which is the full-time unit instead of the NP208 which is part-time?

Nope, the NP203 used drive flanges that connect the axle shafts to the hubs at all times. No lockouts of any kind. The NP208 used auto locking hubs.
