Bear claw install???

Ok, I got the large bear claw's installed in the 48 doors. It looks like this

I'm still trying to figure out how to make that jamb plate look good or at least better. So while thinking about that I decided to try the new window channel with the installed Bear Claw latch.
This picture shows the channel NOT sitting firmly against the outside edge of the door.

Looks like it is out about 3/8"

It is hitting latch at the opening in the window channel

At that rectangular hole.

Is this a problem? If so, has anyone else had this problem and figured out a solution?

I will call Trique Mfg tomorrow to discuss with them, maybe they have an idea of what to do.

Re: Bear claw install???

I installed Trique Mfg bear claws on my '52 with no problems.

Looks like '52 on up door handles, but you mentioned '48 doors.

Re: Bear claw install???

Thanks. I read the instructions and they said to "remove the hump" with a picture of where the "hump" is. The new repro channel has no hump to remove, so I'm still confused.

I have an email or 4 into Trique and I called this morning, but the boss wasn't in yet, so I'll call again after lunch.

Interested in how this turns out as I have the same setup. I just haven’t put windows in the doors yet.

Re: Bear claw install???

1952, thanks for looking at the issue. That nut barely misses the channel, but I can get a different bolt with an Allen head and reverse it.

The real issue is at the rectangular slot, you can see the lever that goes from the push button into the latch. That is where the channel is hitting the latch.

I've ordered the felts so I can install them and check the window to see what happens. I'm hopeful that it will work. If not, cutting a groove in the channel will be the next step.
