Motor Idling high after driving or Revving ?

My carburetor is brand new, I’ve adjusted it and it has been running great, but recently after finding an exhaust leak at the gasket and Intake manifold
(My Bad Lol)
The motor has been going from 475 rpm to about 650 rpm’a at idle after revving the motor or when I come to a stop when driving, why does it do that and how could I fix it? Thanks! Ihave a 235 I6

How do I check the advance? Just watch if the vacuum rod returns back to its original position after revving?

I would be more apt to believe you have a problem with your linkage Or you have an intake leak

Yup!
Make sure everything in the distributor moves freely.

If I spray starting fluid around the base of the manifold it would rev if it had a leak right?

Everytime I come across that problem, it's the linkage getting caught up somewhere. My guess is linkage....

It would change, up or down. Also, sometimes intake leaks make weird moaning noises.

Throttle shaft bore could be worn out, keeping the butterfly from closing all the way.

Well the clip just broke that holds the linkage to the carburetor, maybe that was the problem, but now where do I find a new clip?

It’s a brand new/rebuilt carburetor that I got from a well known shop near by me

Yeah I know what you’re talking about, I miss aligned one of th gaskets on the intake and it was hissing so I push it down and retightened the manifold and it went away
