2004 Sierra Intermediate Steering Shaft R/R

Hey guys, I replaced my intermediate steering shaft and shaft bearing with new doorman parts on my 04 Sierra and it eliminated my annoying clucking steering shaft noise for about 3 months but now its back.
Its as if I didn't even make the repair. Any ideas if there is a better upgrade for this common problem?
Any thoughts and help much appreciated

I know it was a design flaw, usually I have heard the Dormans lasted. My 2002 I just drove it for 11 years with the occasional clunking.

Re: 2004 Sierra Intermediate Steering Shaft R/R

I bought the ACDelco replacement shaft for mine, it looked a little different but went in ok. I also bought a new lower steering column bearing since I would have the shaft out anyway, and that was a big mistake. The new bearing started rattling within a few thousand miles to the point I'd rather have the clunk back instead. It's been probably 10-15k miles on the new shaft and the clunk hasn't returned though. It just sounds like someone is throwing marbles at my firewall every time I hit a bump due to the bearing.
