Brainstorming...Has any one installed Fuel Injection Rails
on a non fuel injection truck? I'm trying to be cheap and figure out a way to install fuel injection on my truck without lots of $$$.
I have an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intack with fuel injection bosses that can be drilled out. I was tryin to see if I could use an LT1 fuel rail and regulator somehow. All it takes is timing the fuel delivery and cylinder compression, right? Could I use the computer somehow? HMMM...... Just brainstorming. Let me know what you think.

How much is, "without lots of $$$?"
You could adapt a LT1 or a TPI computer to work. The one complication is that you will have to adapt a whole bunch of new sensors to your engine. You will also have to use a thottle body kind of like a TBI setup. It would be very time consuming and the results would be very questionable. I say that because without tuning what ever computer you adapted to work, you have no way of knowing if it will be too rich or too lean. You would have to use the stock size injectors for whatever computer you choose. Then of course you can buy something like this http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...16&prmenbr=361 You can see that it is $2000 for a SB EFI setup. You might be able to find something cheaper. You can try to find a complete TPI setup off of ebay. Should be able to get one for $500. You have to make sure you get a 1985 or 86 to fit the old style heads. As you can see it's pretty involved. That's why I just installed an LS1. I looked into TPI for my SBC but didn't think it was worth trying to make a low efficient motor become efficient by adding fuel injection. Hope this helps.

I was just brainstorming. I put a 1996 LT1 in a 1991 S10 short bed regular cab one time. I remember there being a lot involved (like the crank position sensor and the throttle position sensor) but I was thinking maybe there was a way. I really want to install another LT1 or maybe an LS1 in my truck, but this truck is great the way it is, so I might end up selling it and building a new one. Of course, I have almost compleately rebuilt the suspension and gas tank and all. Maybe I should just use this truck as my base. But I really want a fleetside and I am going to need to cut up the dash even more than the typical stereo install. I just don't think I could do that to this truck. With what I want to do I don't need all original(this truck is mostly original). Thanks for the info though!!!
