'06 GMC Savana rear caliper pins

Replaced the Driver front hub/bearing yesterday on my wife's '06 GMC conversion van. The rear pads and rotors need replacing & I can't get the bolt/pins to back out of the calipers. The wear indicators on the pads are dragging the rotors & the rotor surface looks like it's pitted or poorly cast. The pins have a 14mm bolt head on the back of the caliper and they spin freely but won't back out. Tried to drive a small screwdriver blade under the head... no luck. I cussed it good and bathed 'em in PB Blaster & will try again tomorrow. The holes in the caliper are blind so I can't drive the pins out. I can't get this thing on the lift, Hi-top is too tall, so I'm rolling around on the ground in front of the shop. To old n fat for this crap, but too cheap to pay somebody.

Re: '06 GMC Savana rear caliper pins

The 14mm headed bolt is a small bolt that bolts to the caliper slide. The slide has a circle with 2 flats on it. You can use pliers or vice grips on the flats to keep it from spinning. Then you can unscrew the bolts with the 14mm head.

There also may be a hex to put a wrench on.

Here is what the slides look like:

Re: '06 GMC Savana rear caliper pins

I think it's your top picture..... I just "assumed" that it had a threaded section on it like the front. Glad I stopped before I brutalized it I watched a guy on Youtube just back the pins out of his with his air ratchet. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! This is ANOTHER example of what a great resource this site is.
