If you haven't already graduated, you might want to learn this if you expect to!

Your 305 isn't worth much more than $100 complete...there just isn't much demand for them...as you are learning...350 is the hot ticket for small blocks.

The 305 and 350 utilize the same block...but GM wouldn't tell you that.

they have the same external dimensions, like any small block, but that's as far as they go for even being close to the same.

I sold my fully built up 305 with forged internals and TH350 for $750.

I sold my old stock 305 to a fellow board member for $100.00. I kept most of the emission stuff, and the carb.

go ahead and try to bore a 305 block out to the 4.00" it takes to make a 350. dont cry when you hit water doing so.

The last complete 305 I got, was free. I would say $100-$150 is gonna be what you would get tops. But then again, around here in the rust belt, sometimes you can't even give away a 350!

Damn, I'm looking in to buying a rebuilt 305 just to get an my car running, and everywhere I look it seems to be about $700 for pretty much everything new. Although it doesn't include carb. and some other stuff. But now the way you guys are talking that sounds extremely expensive. Is there a better way to shop for 305 than just buying a rebuilt one?

Yes there is a better way. Swap the last two numbers, and get a 350.

It will bolt in just like the 305, and you will be much happier.

I have a similar prob myself. I have a 94 c2500 2wd truck that has a 305/4l60e combo. I want more power but hate to just trash the 305. It has only 45k original miles and runs perfect.

A 350 block has a 10 in the back for 10 percent nickle content. Nickle makes the 350 block alot more duraable
