Thrift-Air Heater issues... '64 C10

Could this be a resistor problem? Need your expert advice...
I keep replacing fuses in the block, for the heater. The switch seems to work fine (all three fan speeds) each time I replace a fuse. HOWEVER, the fan seems to blow fuses when I rev the engine a bit, and the speed of the fan increases with acceleration.
Based on some of the things I have read about the Thrift-Air system, it sounds like a bad resistor (?) There seems to be no other electrical issues with this '64 C10, but could it also be a voltage regulator causing this?
I know enough to be dangerous, about electrical issues... Any advice or opinions are welcome! Thanks!

With all the expertise and experience on this board, I'm surprised that I have had no replies to my question. Anybody??

Nothing to test with? No volt meter? Run a wire from the fuse block to the fan motor by-passing the resister and switch and see if it blows the fuse. Go buy a cheap volt meter.

Without any testing, which is the correct way to diagnose this, I would say unplug the blower motor, replace the fuse, move the fan switch around as you rev it and see if it blows.
If not , 75% chance it's the blower motor.
What size fuse are you using? How many amps? Factory wiring or aftermarket?

It seems to blow the fuse when the switch is on High (but it may have done it on the lower settings also). A 10-amp fuse is what's required, and is what I'm replacing each time. Everything is original GM, no aftermarket, and apparently original. The good thing is that fan motors aren't very expensive to replace if that's the issue.
Thanks!

I would all so check all the wires going to the switch and all the wires to the resistor and the wire to the fan make shore that none are cracked and shorting out on any thing under
the dash.

All so if you have not all ready, check out the resistor.
the one in my truck was falling apart. (careful, I don't know what there made out of mine looked like it was asbestos but I don't know)

Like some others said it may be the fan motor take the motor out and see if it spins
freely, if not it could be causing the problem.
