Difference in Inline 250 Blocks and Accessories
Good Morning,
I have built an early 250 for my 69 stepside project. I'm not sure if there are any differences between the early 250 and the later 250 blocks externally. I am not talking about the integrated head 250. I have found a 75 chevy truck with a 250 in it. Its not a 292 nor is it the integrated head. The later engine has power steering and a/c parts on it that i want for my build. Does anyone know if the accessories, brackets and pulleys from the later 250 will bolt to the earlier 250? Both engines have the alternator on the lower drivers side. The last picture is the donor I am looking at. If anyone can confirm these will fit I would sure appreciate it. |

That York style compressor and brackets are all aftermarket and not what you want.

Eww ok, good to know. Glad I posted the picture. Thanks for that info. Why is that undesireable? How about the power steering setup?

As long as the engine is not an integral head style the p/s brackets will work, but you should use all the pulleys from that engine as well.

That's why I was excited to find this truck close to me. I thought it was going to have everything I need, still in place and installed, Belts, hoses, pulleys etc. Why is the York setup not desirable? The price is right so I'm gonna get it just for the power steering setup. The bonus will be the HEi, hopefully a decent exhaust manifold with a good flapper, serviceable carb, and some other misc stuff. Just wondering about the a/c setup.

You don't ever seen many people using the york style compressors on old cars and trucks now days. But I looked around the internet and coulnd't really find anything particularly bad about them.
