Question for the 4x4 experts - fan shroud 292 or finger guard

I am getting geared up for another K10 build here shortly. Trying to get all the ducks in a row an plans figured out. I will be building a 69 K10 that now has 350 v8, I am going back to what was installed at factory which was a 292 I6.

Question is did they just use the finger guard on top radiator or did they have a specific fan shroud for 292 in a 4X4? Thanks!

I don't think I've ever seen a 6cyl with anything other than the finger guard

Someone made the statement a while back that 6 cyc's only came with a fan shroud when bolted to an automatic. I have a 250/auto with a fan shroud, about to change to a 292/200-4R

Then it looks like we are going with Finger Guard setup. Lucky me I have two of them saved from a few years back that I got a the pick-a-part. Thanks for all that chimed in!

Re: Question for the 4x4 experts - fan shroud 292 or finger guard

I had a 1970 K10 with the 292, th350, 205 that had the fan shroud. This was in 1993 and I purchased from the second owner, it was in original untouched condition. Another one that I wish I still had

Re: Question for the 4x4 experts - fan shroud 292 or finger guard

All the trucks with 292's I have seen have had finger guards with standard shift trucks and shrouds with automatics. As I recall the shrouds are a little longer with a 4x4 automatic 292 truck then their 2wd or 350 counter parts
