What lift

I’m am looking for a 2-4inch lift, for my 72 gmc k15 I don’t want it to be to high up and look weird so I was thinking the 2.5” lift and some 33s picture would be appreciated, and what brand would you guys recommend?

To bad BDS doesn't make a lift for 67-72 k10s What height lift should I go for,want it to look and not get stuck from hitting axles but dont want it to look like a giant lift.

opps sorry = bds . forgot 67-72 not on there list .

2" kits still ride real good and provide a bit of lift over whipped / worn out stock stuff .

so maybe go tuff country . i have them in my 1ton k30 73-87 trucks and ride good for off the shelf stuff .

if you want super nice and dont care price call up www.offroaddesign.com and talk with them . they can do stock to wild built stuff . i should own stock in the company if they offered it .

To me lifts start at 4". It will not look lanky even with stock tire size. It will sit like any early 4wd did. It's only 4". Anything less and most won't notice it's not stock or be asking "Is that lifted?". My K2500 has 4" with 32", 285/75-16 on 8". It will clear 33/12.50s with 10" wheels no problem. I can put 35s, everything else the same if I'm careful and can put up with light rubbing

In between sets I ran 255/85-16 on 7s a while, for sake of comparison. There was a time I'd say that looks lanky. But today I see it as how a pre-78 F250 or 66-back K/20 or Napco sits from factory... vintage look! Looks like it has the room to travel needed for anything it goes through.

If your stock suspension has 2 leafs in the front, you can add another leaf and get the desired 2-3 inches and fit a 285/75r-tire which is almost 33'' then just add a block in the rear to level it out. I have 285-16s on my 2wd gmc and they clear the front without issue

Well Tim, I don't have a 4" lift, just 2 1/2" Softrides on my K20. Excellent quality & a decent ride, though I can only compare them to the sagging OEM front springs.

72k15, the tires are 255/85-16s which are right at 33" tall.

Thank you everyone I think I will be going with the skyjacker softride 4” with some 33s hopefully I don’t regret the 4” inch instead of 2.5”

This is our 70 GMC K2500 with the Skyjacker Softride 4" lift and 33" tires (BFG KO2)

I recommend to go with the softest shocks. We went with the Nitro's and they are very stiff.

The only install issues we had are:
1) Needing some new hardware (bolts for the shackles and pivot points, as the kit does NOT come with any hardware)
2) The front shackle had the steel tube was about 1/8" too long. We had to grind it off to fit in the shackle mount (both sides)
3) The steering shock was not even close to the right design for our truck. Ours is an oddball being a 1970 K2500.

You WILL need longer parking brake cable housings at the wheel. We had to go about 6" longer than our originals. (We used Inline Tube for them)

If you need a set, we MAY have a set the correct length for you. They are slightly used, but we'll make a good deal. Our standard housings are 2-1/2" longer than all other standard ones to begin with. The 72's have a slightly different configuration.

weekend or fun toy go 4"

i just put together a mid 80's k30 for my self with 3" and 33" tires and its almost a hair to tall for every day unless i built some rear steps for the entry . and i am 6ft tall .

Pictures on ride height will help me decision if you have any, truck will be my daily and used for hunting, and off-roading while using the highway to get there (75 mph) Dont want to hit corn stocks on the bottem of truck or get stuck to easily.

You can add a zero rate to the spring pack, adds 1". Not a block, it's safe because it's bolted to the pack. Then you can get blocks for the rear. But, I would just get new 4" springs for the front though.

This is getting hard to decide between the 4” and 2.5” I am used to driving trucks that are high I just don’t want it super high what would you guys get if you were in my situation trying to daily the truck?

My first K truck had 2.5 inch lift with 33 x 15 it was perfect. Not too high. Second K truck had no lift just overloads if I remember correctly (?) 33 x16 looked great. Last K truck I recently sold 33x16.5 with a four inch lift ... looked great, but a little bit of a pain to hop in and out of. If I ever did another one it was going to be driven a lot I would do the 2.5 inch and save a 4 inch for more of a fun times truck. I think I have pictures of all of them ... Just need to dig em up.

The 68 with four inch. Green 71 stock, sorry bout the hooked together pics on that one, its all I could find at the moment. The black one has 2.5 inch but it sure looks taller. I know I didn't order 4 inch because I wanted a truck I could easily hop in and out of. That truck went to Oldiron and he finished it up all nice and purty. Recently sold it though.

Let me clarify Black wheels is stock lift white and chrome wheels are 4"?

On the green truck the lift is the same both ways, stock. The black wheels were wide 16.5 inches and the tires were 33's. The white wheels I changed it to are wheel Vintiques 16 inch rims and the tires were 33 inch. It was a perfect truck ... shoulda kept if. Gotta live hindsight lol.

EDIT: Its been awhile but I do think the green truck had overloads, but I don't think that raised it any more over stock height. Just better load capacity.

Wow that looks really high for stock. Maybe ill just go for 2.5" what lift is on the orange/red truck
