Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
I'll find out soon. I'm doing my rear brakes on my '72 K2500/Dana60 soon. I last did them in '07 or '08 and got it all from NAPA. I already bought the wheel cyls. But from prior experience, and when I tried when I got the wheels cyls, you need to bring shoes with you to match up. I haven't pulled them yet. I tried at another store (a good one) and their listings suck just as bad. I told him there should be two listings with one showing "exc Dana". That is how GM listed parts, the other being the corporate rear people refer to as an Eaton or more accurately HO52. The place I tried, the guy said "These should be it". I figure they were probably for 14-bolt. I know they are 12" brakes because the drum has "MAX DIA 12 1/8" stamped. This goes in one ear and out the other. When I didn't get to doing the brakes for a while I just returned the shoes. I have the truck on jack stands now waiting for a chance for me to disassemble one side. I hope they still have the book with pictures and measurements!

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
Fixing to do mine soon. Ordered correct shoes through rockauto. Details said it came with hardware but arrived without. I do remember seeing just the hardware so will circle back for it. Shoes are listed as 12" for the Dana setup. Calso listed as 2.5" wide for the dana. Will post back when i chase down the hardware . Goodluck with our 3/4 ton brake jobs

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
The answer is yes. Do you have the original drum and shoes? Is it a 2WD or 4x4? Brake drum diameter and shoe width help in determining which parts to get or to order. Should be able to find everything at the local auto parts. Oreilly's appears to have them. This is the kit for 2-3/4" Wide shoes with 11-5/16" drums...Theres also 12" inch drums with 2-1/2" inch wide shoes so need to know what you have? https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b...w_applications

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
I went through this a couple of years ago. Almost every parts place listed the wrong (smaller) shoes for my k2500 with Dana 60. I finally figured out that to get the correct 12x2.5 shoes and hardware to fit my truck they were listed for C2500 trucks. I am pretty confident that the truck still has its original rear axle.
Bottom line: pull a drum and measure what you have first. If the parts house doesn’t have what you need for a 4wd have em look for a listing under 2wd.

HO52s went through a lot of changes in this time on K/20s. '71 is stand alone and so is '72 since it's the last year. At this point in time the parts suppliers seem to be lost in the changes. A GM parts book will show the correct application breakdown but they seem to have used some other source for their current program. I take the shoes in. Most parts guys will ignore your measurements and would rather strain over using their own resources as if you don't know squat. Plunking down and actual dirty old set of shoes gives them a fact they can't ignore... "This is what I need! Can you help me or not?"

As an aside, I generally prefer to go to a local auto parts store over ordering online. But options here are kinda limited. Also it seems nowadays that the stores are pretty much just a franchise (Napa, orielly, autozone, carquest, etc) staffed by salespeople who can do no more than search the same online inventory I can. The knowledgeable parts guys seem to be a dying breed.

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
I went through this a couple of years ago on my truck. I put all the hardware on the rear brakes while I was at it (complete rear brake rebuild). One of the adjusters was what we call in the industry, "boxed wrong". This took 3 trips to the parts store (NAPA) to get right. The guys that own and run the place know their stuff, but the new hires were a different story.

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
For my 72 GMC I got the wrong parts first from Rock Auto and then from Napa. When I went back to Napa we ended up going with a 70 GMC to get the right parts. It seems the literature refers to the HO rear end rather than the Dana 60 for the 72 models.

Re: Dana 60 Rear Brake Parts
Looks like I was able to get most of the parts at O’Reillys but have not tried to install anything yet. Will let you know.
