E stopp brake
Has anyone installed this electric brake? I’m thinking it would be nice to get rid of the manual brake. Pictures of the install would be great. I think it would be easy to mount it behind the left front spring perch. It’s a bit pricey but I would like to have the room for some speakers down there.

If you live in a region that requires safety checks, any e-brake that is not able to be modulated and/or requires electric current to operate will not pass inspection. All on or all off parking brakes do not qualify as emergency brakes that can be slowly applied to prevent locking up the brakes. Anything other than purely mechanical systems are rejected. I found this out the hard way once upon a time.

The brake does apply slowely. I watched a few videos showing this. They don’t have inspections where I live. I’m lucky for now.

Just don't park on a hill for any long periods of time without auto tranny in park or manual in gear! When engaged, a line lock or that gadget you are looking at will be drawing current the whole time. If your battery should lose enough charge the brake will release on its own.

I run a hydraulic one on my Jeepster; seems to be working fine and no power draw.

I wanted to get rid of the front e brake also, but wasn't aware of the points that Cleszki made for state inspection. I have two handles for the rear brakes, one for each side, they rachet up, manually. Have not figured out the install of the mounts for the lokar handles yet, still working on that idea

just found a hydraulic drift brake w/ a lock for handle, don't know if this qualifies for your needs.....T&T sports

Are you referring to a hydraulic line lock? Unless you have a manual line lock that requires you to manually open and close the valve, all line locks I have seen are controlled by a 12V solenoid that draws current when it is in the closed (locked) position. I have never seen a line lock that draws current in the open position.

I’m pretty sure once the brake locks it’s mechanicaly locked and not under tension from the motor or drawing current. I’ll look some more to see if that is the case but I remember something about that when I first looked into it.

Jaros are those Lokar universal ebrake cables hooked up to the rear drums? Looks pretty good. I was wondering what to use on my drums if I needed to replace the stock cables. My stock cables are too short for my lift.

I have no doubt. But those are OE systems that have probably passed dozens of safety checks before being accepted for use in production, not after market add-ons like the stuff being discussed here that are being used to replace OE systems.

I’m thinking the same thing. I have an 18 accord and it has an ebrake. These guys are sold all over with good reviews. I’m looking a 70 c10 Saturday so some of my funds are going to that but I may look into getting this. I need to figure out if I should swap my rear brake lines or move the mounts.

I agree with you fully. I just wanted to bring to light the issues I had with safety inspection once upon a time with my 72 Blazer and an electric line lock I installed. The aftermarket line locks, be they mechanical or electric are great. I use one in a rock crawler buggy and it works great. But if you have to go through a state safety inspection the odds are good that it would not pass. That's all I wanted to say.

Is your area subject to those checks? I’ve never had to do them here. Worst I’ve had is a vin check for a truck I bought out of state. Just a chp check and it took about 5 min.

I think now days they're called "park brakes" and not "emergency brakes". A park brake only needs to be able to hold a car from moving when it's already stopped. I've seen a lot of newer cars where that brake would never be enough to stop a car at any speed.

I think that’s the case with my car. I don’t think it works when the car is moving. The ebrake above does though. I’ve watched a few videos with people using it to stop and it brings the vehicle to a nice smooth stop.

It occurred over 20 years ago when I lived in Virginia. I think we had to do state safety inspections like every year or two, regardless of the vehicles age. You got a big sticker with the year and month on it when you passed. Had to display the sticker in the bottom middle of your windshield. This was independent of the smog check, which my Blazer never had to do. No safety check since I've lived in California. Only a VIN verification when I brought it into the state.

So I pulled the trigger and it's here. I'm still doing some wiring and getting my Vintage air kit installed so it's on the back burner for the ebrake. It's a really stout setup. All aluminum case and nice little button. I think it will fit the frame no problem and will just be a matter of routing the cables to it. I do want to note it did not come with a bracket to hook up the two brake lines. I purchased their plate separate for $25 and a set of lokar universal lines. It wasn't cheap for all this. About $600 for everything but I want the pedal in the cab gone.
