WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

Like the title says, I'm looking for a black shifter knob for a NP205 that has the 3/8"-24 fine thread. Thanks.

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

Anyone? I know this is not the correct knob for my 70 K10. The proper one (which I already have) is smooth with no letters/numbers on it. I’m not looking for originality here. Thanks for your help.

I have one on a truck I’m starting to part out today. It’s a 72. It does not have white in the letters anymore but I believe it’s a decent knob. I will post pics first thing in the a.m. as soon as I can get home and take them. 30.00 shipped if your interested after pics.

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

Dan from what I can figure is you will need to change to a newer shifter or re-thread the 70 shifter to adapt to a knob with print on it. ( I am no expert)

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

Ok. I didn’t realize the 205 had 2 different threads prior to this ? I guess earlier and later has something to do with it ?? I will check and hope you find what you need.

Jim, I think you're right. I never thought about it. I will consider either cutting and retapping my shifter or re-sleeving a 7/16" knob. Thanks for the input.

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

OK everyone I'm going to consider this thread dead. I didn't realize that the knob I need is 7/16" thread and not 3/8"-24. Thanks for the education and sorry if I wasted anyone's time.

Looks like I may try an aftermarket knob from a different truck make. Maybe something like:

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

I also bought the 7/16 np205 knob with the pattern on it a while ago, then i realized after it did not fit the 3/8 lever my 69k20. Even if the knob fit, the second problem is that the stock transfer case is a rockwell with a different shift pattern.

What you are looking for has been reproduced on the board before. I bought one in fact:

Depending on your desire, you could probably make it happen again. There's a market I'm sure. I'd buy two from you.

More
This is wiped off. Not perfect. No cracks. Good threads. The white may buff out but this is how it was removed. It came off by hand when I loosened the lock nut.

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

I have a probably 73+ knob that's been sitting by the kboard for years. Want it?
You can buy a new knob from the internet with whatever pattern desired for cheap. Why is used such a fascination?

We had mentioned the NP205 t/c lever and knob thread differences a few weeks back in the below linked F/S thread, there are also two 71-72 t/c shift levers available in same thread should you decide to swap/convert over to the later style lever with the larger 7/16"-20 NF threads. Mel

Re: WTB: NP205 Shifter Knob 3/8"-24 fine thread

So here is what I ended up going with for the TC shift knob. It has an internal adapter for the 3/8"-24 fine thread. It's not like the flatter original style knob, but I don't care. This one is round, but it will do just fine for my build. At $23 with no tax and free shipping I'm just fine with it.
