Question Old and Confused

Getting down to last bit of part to order. Dilemma is my 72 has a 79 350.
Power steering pump is my question. Will any pump fit as in first generation etc. Want chrome and seems that a 72 Saginaw is ez to find (ebay) if I put in 79 no chrome versions come up.
Dazed and confused.

Re: Old and Confused

79 was still first gen 350's but had long water pump shaft configurations. What does yours have? In either case, the chrome Saginaw style pump should work as long as the crank pulley has at two pulleys...

Re: Old and Confused

Watch out for the thread for the power steering hoses. At some point they changed to metric threads.

Re: Old and Confused

TYVM for replies. Those compatibility charts are a pain in the butt. Trying not to make to many mistakes ordering parts and I know SBC is pretty much interchangeable with parts but---------. More dumb questions to follow as I am just about ready to pull motor and re-wire etc. Thanks again.
