Strange Starting '76
It's getting colder up here in Manitoba, but my fearless '76 hasn't let me down yet!
I has this weird starting sequence though... I pump the pedal a few times and it cranks over without too much trouble. I let it idle long enough to warm it up a bit, then I put it into drive. As soon as I take my foot off the brake it stalls. It starts up again without any problem. I put it in drive and the second time it just drives away without any problem. It does this consistently - stalling the first time but going the second time I put it into drive. What gives???

Cold starts
It seems a few adjustments are needed.
My suggestions would be.....while engine is cold, adjust choke bimetel spring that the choke blade is a little tighter. Spring is in black choke housing. Also adjust the choke linkage to make the hi idle screw hold the throttle poen a little longer. If ya set the hi idle screw for about 1100 RPM at the highest and the hot idle for about 650RPM in drive, all will be well.
