How to remove/replace the intermediate steering shaft rubber boot

I bought an Omix-Ada 18018.06 Steering intermediate shaft rubber boot to replace my old one. But I wanted to ask what is the best way to get the old boot off. Hopefully I don't have to disassemble the whole U joint part just to put this in but please let me know

Pry out the keeper snap ring, and pull off the shaft housing and pull off the little ears. Then slide off the rubber boot. Lots of grease inside the housing. Then have it zinc plated or black oxide plated. Hope that helps.

That mean it does or doesn't? Maybe some heat and dish washing liquid?

Post a picture of the end of your intermediate, where the boot will go.

Re: How to remove/replace the intermediate steering shaft rubber boot

I'm very interested in the way BlazerBill did his because I've restored about a half dozen of these and I press the pin out, take the old boot and clip off, slide the clip and boot back on and then press the pin back on. I don't think the rubber boot will slide over that pin without stretching it out of shape or ripping it.
