Paper between hub & drum

I picked up a pair of low mileage original ‘67 C10 drums/hubs/spindles (from 57Suburb—thanks Todd!) and ground the rivets to separate the drums from the hubs for the first time since the factory. I noticed there was some thin paper on the mounting face of the hub, between it and the drum. I could see that being helpful for heat transfer and maybe sound/vibe insulation. Anybody ever noticed this on your pickup? Ever try replacing it? I’ve cut a couple of replacements from a thin sheet of paper gasket, just wondering what I should consider before I decide to use them.

It was put there to prevent any grease leaking from the seals to get to inside the drum onto the shoes. Back then we didn't have the quality materials we have now. They are not necessary now.
