Will a 66 C10 seat fit in a 67 C10 ? .... A guy has a nice 66 seat and I thought I could recover it if the seat fits .... If not I may go another route

No ... My trucks original seat was long gone ....

9 times out of 10, the "feet" of the brackets don't line up elevation-wise with the floor pan. But if you can get your hands on a set of 67 brackets/ sliders, you can probably weld those feet to your 66 sliders and have a functioning bench.

On second thought, the fit is also determined by the offset of your brackets side to side.

If you're up to go look at it, take a measurement of the distance from your front driver's seat bolts to the front passenger's seat bolts and see if the 66 bench has the same measurements for it's sliders.

I took a chance with a square body bench seat and lucked out. Slider offset was the same, so I welded the 67-72 feet to the squarebody sliders.

Measure the holes in your floor, and ask for the dimensions of the holes in the tracks and compare.
