Question about 250 power steering belt.
Hi folks. I have a 250 with A/C and am installing power steering. I have double pulleys on crank, water pump and alternator. I have a spare groove on the alternator and was wondering if I can run the power steering from that groove which is in line. when trying to figure out another way I get dizzy! I was wondering about the different size in the pulleys and if it matters. I have searched for pictures of belt routings but can't find any with A/C included. Of course as in the past all help is greatly appreciated. Have a nice day and thanks in advance.

Re: Question about 250 power steering belt.
I have a 250 with PS. It has all 3 pulleys that each have 2 groves. The PS runs on the alternator fully also. I'm just getting ready to pull the 250 and install a 292 with Vintage air. I'm thinking I will have to go to a 3 grove pulley on the crank to run the air. I'm also going to mount the air compressor on the passenger side of the motor so that it will be a straight shot into the the dash and also because the drivers has both the power steering and Alt. I did just pull a 3 grove pulley from a 292 in the junk yard. It is coming apart, but can be rebuilt. They seem to be hard to come by. Hope this helps somewhat.

Re: Question about 250 power steering belt.
old 51 sedan: My ac compressor is mounted on the passengers side at the top. If I remember right the mounting bracket came out of a Nova car. The ac is original for our trucks (used) I had to cut in the vents on the dash and change part of the firewall but turned out alright and is as the original should be. My power steering is off of a 68 Beaumont. Starting to sound like Heinz 57 eh! The pulley on the alternator is small and I figure that the pump would be turning at m4 warp speed. Don't want to burn the pump out by running it too fast that is the reason for my question. I promise you one thing... I won't be going with anything newer for the rest of my life if something 50 years ago is complicated God knows what the new crap is all about. When you take away my coat hanger and replace it with an Ipad it is time to go into the box!

Re: Question about 250 power steering belt.
Jason. Thanks for the thread. I didn't realize that there was a three groove crank pulley set up. I think playing around with that in mind gives me some other options that were eluding me. The one drawing is a big help. Thanks for chiming in. Have a good day eh!

Re: Question about 250 power steering belt.
DO you have any pictures of your setup as it sits now? I'm doing a AC PS setup on my 250 and have researched it pretty good so would probably be able to help.

Re: Question about 250 power steering belt.
69-72. Thanks for the offer. After Jason chimed in and got me thinking I did some Magivering on my mounting brackets and wound up doing it with just two belts. So my power steering set up is off a 1968 Beaumont with a bit of farting around. I haven't got the steering box mounted but should be a piece of cake after the pump setup. Thanks again for the concern. That's what makes this site rock eh! When I'm done I'd post some pictures but it doesn't work for me. I'll maybe get my 12 yr.old grandson to help. Don't know whether or not I can take the verbal abuse?? Have a good one.
