OEM Solid rear window thickness

Anyone know how thick the OEM solid back rear window is? I got one out of the yard but it says "SOFT-RAY" on it and it's 3mm thick. I'm not sure if it's the original or not. Local glass company says they can't get me one and I'm weary of using an LMC one.

LMC isn’t the only place that has truck parts.

Valid point! But calling those monkies and asking how thick their back glass is surely a recipe for frustration

True, it doesn’t do any good to ask them anything. All they do is place orders on the phone, they don’t know anything about the parts. Call Randy at USA1 Industries. They know their parts.

Sounds like oem to me on the junk yard glass. Soft-ray just means it’s a factory tinted glass(very light green). If you look real hard you will prob find a LOF or PPG marking in a bottom corner or bottom center. They are thin.

If you find a good auto glass shop (not the cheap ones) they can give you the real info on windshields.

Those types of good 'ol boy shops for the most part do not exist, not only because the quality of work overall has gone down in the last 30 years since everything in our society is use and dispose, but also because all auto glass comes from China and commercially available glass has gotten thinner and thinner. Not to mention no one cares about glass thickness. From experience, it's a waste of time to call glass shops and ask them "what thickness is this this and this" as they have no experience with people asking that question. All they deal with is "I have a cracked windshield when can you come out and fix it with the cheapest available?".
