'70 Lower trim question
Does anybody have experience with using body trim tape to secure body moldings? In particular the lower trim for a '70 SWB? I am hesitant to drill holes for the clips and use the screws if I don't have to. Seems like the 3M tape would work pretty well. Thoughts?

Re: '70 Lower trim question
Cant comment on our trucks but will mention that ALL the plastic body parts around both sides of the lower half of my 06 cadillac escalade are FIRMLY attachedusing double sided adhesive tape. If you decide to try it , I would advise trying to get whatever brand the gm factory used if still available. Seems like a great idea. Hope it works for you.

Re: '70 Lower trim question
Disclaimer... I have not use double sided tape for trim,,,
But the trouble you will run into is that the lower trim for our trucks does not have much flat back to apply the tape. The trim is formed around the top an bottom edges for the clips and that is all you have to put tape on. The center section does not touch the truck body. There's not much surface area along the outer edges for the tape to stick to. I suppose you could put two or three layers of tape down the center to build up to meet the body panels. OR, I believe that they make clips for the lower molding that are to be used with tape or sheet metal screws. From what I have read from those that went that route...the plasctic clips and tape hold the trim off of the truck which looks loose to some. I'm not saying that it won't work, but that's why I drilled the holes (and a few extras just to be sure it laid and stayed flat).

Re: '70 Lower trim question
Some of my reproduction lower trim on my '70 c10 had 3M VHB tape on the clip. It's PSA, pressure sensitive adhesive and was installed properly.
its worked loose in the sun. I would advise the bolted on clip. Mark
