Replacing L Channel in Stepside Bed

Have bed out and fenders ready to pull off. The L Channel is rusted out a bit and is kind of ratty looking. Is this tack welded to the sides and back ? Best way to remove and replace ?

Re: Replacing L Channel in Stepside Bed

Would you be referring to the angle strips spot welded to the inside, bottom of the bed sides at the floor?

Re: Replacing L Channel in Stepside Bed

They are spot welded to the bedsides.

The spot welds need to be drilled out to remove the angles so you do not damage the bedsides.

New angles can either be spot welded back on, or plug welded if you do not have a spot welder.

Be sure to measure the location of the angles relative to the front/rear position from the end of the bedsides, and the vertical dimension from the top of the bedsides.

Also, there is a left and a right angle. The position of the holes will determine which is which.

So sorry about late reply. Ended up going to front end and taking that off and just started back on the bed again. At 70 my mind wanders I guess. TY for info.
