Lengthen a LWB?
I'm wondering if anyone has lengthened a long bed to make it a fit a 133" wheelbase? Either for a longhorn, or for a 1-ton. I'd like to see how the body lines fit.
I've done a couple of searches, and can't find any build threads or anything. |

Re: Lengthen a LWB?
That’s basically what a Longhorn is. If you can a bed off of one of those really easy. If not, I’d think it would easier to add 6” instead shortening a bed, which is common these days.

Re: Lengthen a LWB?
Yeah, just do what the factory did. I'm sure someone has made their own Longhorn bed before out of a standard bed.

Re: Lengthen a LWB?
Longhorn beds are not easy to come by, and they don't repo the parts. I was wanting to see if others had fabbed one, especially what they have done with the steel floor and inner bedsides.

So you are wanting to duplicate a Longhorn bed? Make one to look original or just make a bed fit? To look original will be taking the hard road, not that it isn't possible. Just making it fit, while still a heap of work, will be much easier and all you need to learn is how guys are shortening and apply that. You could make an 8'6" steel floor and have something cool and different "as if" factory looking but more refined.

Re: Lengthen a LWB?
too many of these still popping up for low enough $ to consider 'creating' one.. harvest the 133" chassis at least..
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...postcount=6002 and Mar-K does make everything for the wood bed floor replacement and some for longhorns.. plug a model into their website to see.. http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/index.aspx?LID=3485 just spoke with a rep the other day, planning to order full bed components for both of my 71 longhorns as for making one, as far as I know, everything but the bed floor is essentially an 8' bed with a 6" extension added to front.. good luck!
