Sometime you have to
Think outside the box . I had to pull the trans in the 72 on the ground as I have a car on the lift that not movable. Its relatively easy to get it out and down . Getting it back is a pain . Was going to buy a low tran Jack. But I didnt want to spend 170$ or so for a one time use. So as I was getting my floor Jack out I spotted my motorcycle lift. Worked great.

Cool! The MC jacks are great low-profile platform jacks for many uses. Handy dandy. Can't beat that plywood either.
I swapped the axles from a 3/4t 4wd Suburban to a Jimmy (and visa-versa), side by side on stone. I had a job to do on an old stone spring house rebuilding the roof from the stone up, except gables. I bought all the 3/4" plywood sheathing first to use on the axle swap. I lowered the axles onto small dollies and rolled into place no problem. When I went to do the spring house I just turned the "soiled" side up That's just an example with a bit of a story. I've used plywood plenty enough on stone for my 67-72s. You name it, from a piece the right size to toss under to roll the jack on or a sheet to roll a creeper on to a system of sheets for an engine swap

That’s some great thinking there! I bought a jack for quads/motorcycles and used it to remove and reinstall the subframe on my 1980 Trans Am. It has been used for so many different auto and truck projects that it was well worth the money I spent on it at HF. They should be in every home garage as far as I am concerned!
