yoke swap
On my 71 blazer, the 12 bolt differential has a pinion yoke that uses u joint straps instead of the u joint u bolt. I have a spare axle of my truck that has the u joint u bolt and I would like to swap them. how much of a pain is it to do so?

Re: yoke swap
Take old one off. Put new one on. Done.
Not quite that simple but almost. I would put a new seal on while I had the yoke off. Use a 1/2" drive ratchet and get it as tight as you can with no extensions or anything and should be good. I would put a new nut on it as well.

Re: yoke swap
I might as well continue on this thread. I have to replace the slip yoke part on my drive shaft also. How does this come off? The part of the shaft that's connected to the pinion yoke in this image.. |

Re: yoke swap
I saw that. Thanks for the reply. Preload is what im worried about. This is actually a different question about the driveshaft slip yoke that attaches to the pinion yoke. Not the pinion yoke itself..
