LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Guys unfortunately I have a harness from a different engine and the only plug that doesn't fit is the oil sender... It's a 3 wire but shaped differently. I also went through rockauto looking at pics for several different years and models and can't find the connector that matches my sender.

What oil sender is this? What year and make?

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

I can't see your pic but the LS harness/ecm doesn't need to see the oil sender..you'll need to connect that to your gauge....use a metric to standard adapter and use your stock sender...

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

This is the connector type that is on my harness. You can see it doesn't have the right slots/shape to fit in the above picture of my sender. I trying not to pay the $30 for a new sender and just buy the connector for half the price...

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Yep..I see it now...you really dont need a plug or that sender...like before...the ecm doesn't need to see oil pressure...all you need is to simply connect a sender to a gauge...use a autometer metric to npt adapter and use the oil sender from your old engine...and hook it to your dash gauge...

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

I should have mentioned this in my first post my bad. I plan to use the ECM OBDII port with Bluetooth adapter and torque app on a tablet in truck to read gauges until I decide what electronic gauges I want to go with. I don't have the original oil sender from the 350 sbc anymore. I am ready to fire the engine for first time and this is holding me up. I want to use this setup to read oil pressure when i prime the engine with oil before I actually start it.

If nobody can identify and help me locate the pigtail needed for that sender I guess I will have to bite the bullet and get a new oil sender.

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Check out a OPS for a 98-02 camaro and see if that matches

Is your coolant temp sensor 2 or 3 terminals? If its 3 you have a camaro based harness

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Looks like the gray part of the old connector is still in the sender. Try removing that and I bet it plugs in.

What you are looking at is what nova says . The gray piece in the sender came off the plug and is still on there . Take you a pick and pull the grey piece out and plug the new harness in .

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Not uncommon for sensor to break when removing intake manifold

Re: LS Oil Sender and Harness Plug

Yet another reason this forum is awesome. The Help is amazing.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT..... It wasn't even snug, just sitting in there. And I rotated this engine a couple times on the engine stand....

And there it is, happy in its new home where it belongs. And the best part is I didn't spend a dime because of your help! If I didn't have you, I would have bought a new sender, pulled the old one out only to watch the little broken piece fall out while I install the new part. Thanks guys.
