What is my Eaton axle worth?

Honestly, i dont know, what is a fair price for a basic Eaton? Not looking to get rich, I dont think it's a posi, I'll check that though before I let it go, it's out of a k20.... I think 68.

He is selling (trading me) parts. But his cash prices on the parts were quite fair in my opinion, just want to be comfortable in my dealing knowing I'm somewhat ballpark on an axle value.

that helps - is there any mention of ratio or no-spin diff on the SPID?

Well, disregard - didn't really matter in a 68 K20! If original, it should be an HO52 with 4.57s in it. I'd open it up to see if it is a no-spin, that could potentially double the price, and it probably the main reason a buyer would be interested. They aren't worth a ton, except to a restoration nut perhaps, because parts are hard to find and, if not undergoing restoration, folks tend to gravitate to 14 Bolt FFs/something newer. Anyway, if complete drum to drum, I'd say maybe $200-400, $300-400 if a posi. I'm just spit-ballin though...

sorry for the late reply but just to chime in here.
200~400 is a great price......
But it all depends on the buyers seeking these parts,
Just got a notice from Ebay of a listing for a used HO72 - 3rd member with 4:10's for $1800+

The inside bearings set alone cost over $450+ to rebuilt it. (so I have been quoted).

That link doesn't go to a listing. Is that a completely rebuilt fresh unit or are you making the mistake of using ridiculous Ebay seller dreams as a price reference? A couple hundred to $300 is reasonable for an open rear. The locker itself is worth $300-$500 if it's a No-Spin. All wear parts not available can be adapted from a 14-bolt. That's what I call gravitating. Just swapping in a 14-bolt is a down grade IMO. Not a bad thing, but you give up some cool factor. It's just cool to see what belongs under there. I have a collection of HO52s and HO72s. Most were free and the most I've spent was $100 for a No-Spin, but time has passed since I bought one. No need. I get them offered for free.

If it's a deal with a friend, see if he thinks it's an even trade for his parts. That way you know there will be no problems between you

No mistake, here the link again it is a unit that has been rebuilt but again with used parts.
