Power steering and tilt columns
Looking for ideas on adding power steering and a tilt column.
Is there a kit out there that includes both? |

Re: Power steering and tilt columns
That's kinda like 2 seperate things...neither one is dependent on the other...
Are you looking for a pullout from another truck or aftermarket...column shift or floor..?

Re: Power steering and tilt columns
Ah that would have been good info for me to add. I was hoping there is an after market setup. Kind of like there are disk brake conversions and power brake conversions. Hoping to find something as close to bolt on as possible. Shifting will be on the floor. I’m also keeping the dimmer on the floor. Sounds silly but I miss that on my old truck. Only thing I need on the column is turn signals. I’m not really against keeping the original column that’s in it. But I would change it if it’s necessary for power steering. I’m switching out the stuck 6 cylinder to a small block Chevy. I’m guessing it needs a power steering pump on it? I’m rebuilding the original suspension if that makes a difference.
Truck is a 56 GMC. |

Re: Power steering and tilt columns
ididit seems to be the go to for aftermarket columns..you can get them setup however you want...I would get all the pump stuff for the smallblock...im not sure what steering box will work on your truck but connecting the column to the box is no real issue..i don't know of a "complete" package

Re: Power steering and tilt columns
im going to use a column out of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that I got for 35.00 including the steering wheel. its the right length, it has wiper switch on the turn signal switch, key on right side of column, its round so it looks good and best of all, it was made by GM so the electrical plug should work. give one a look.

Re: Power steering and tilt columns
I found a power steering unit that should work with very minimal modifications and u ca use the existing steering column and wheel.
