transfer case mounts.
Hello everyone,
Is there a trick to getting the transfer case mounts on? I can't seem to get it. I had my transfer case out to change the seals in the adapter and while pulling it atf got all over the mounts. I took them off to clean the area up and now can't get them back on. The mounts are polyurethane and still like new. I'm sure they're the right ones because they were on there fine before. The crazy thing is I put them on a few years ago and now can't get it. Thanks in advance for any help. |

The mounts on the passenger frame rail or on the crossmember?

Re: transfer case mounts.
It's the crossmember mounts. What I'm having trouble with is the crossmember has a big lip around the bolt holes that the mounts seat into. I can't get the mounts to seat properly on the crossmember. It's hard to explain unless you've seen it. When I get home from work I'll take a picture.

Re: transfer case mounts.
Okay, I figured out the problem. I'm stupid. The mounts have a plastic insert in them that go through the bolt holes. When I remove the mounts from the crossmember they pulled out of the mounts and remained in the crossmember. It looked like they were part of the crossmember itself. When I tried to reinstall the mounts I was trying to get them reseated on the plastic inserts and there was no way that was happening. So problem solved. I feel really dumb and was going to let this thread drift off into obscurity but decided to bite the bullet and confess.
