My new to me 67 C10
As of last night Im the new owner of a 1967 C10 1/2 ton long bed
This is my first C10 waited until I was 70 to get one So the truck looks like its been lowered a little my question is because I don't know much about the truck and the people I bought it from did not know how much it was lowered I want to start over new lower springs and it needs shocks so what is a good spring height to start with With out having to C notch the frame at this time At this time it has 6 lug wheels I probably will want to go to 5 lug later Thanks more question to come |

Re: My new to me 67 C10
Nitrodan
It seems unless you want to really lower your truck 2 1/2" drop spindles with disc brake swap kit and 3-4" springs with 29" tires are the way to go. I have 255-70-15 Radial TA tires on 15x8 rally's. I went with 2" springs and 1" lowering blocks in the rear so I could use my stock overload springs if I want. It does not sound like much drop till you go to work on your distributor and don't have to stand on the bumper anymore. |

Re: My new to me 67 C10
Welcome! I second Ricks suggestion. Did the spindle drop on my '71 and it sits just right. I did blow it when I went with 5" dropped springs in the rear. No load bearing with those. Not that I'm likely to carry anything on the oak floor anyway. 255/60's front, 275/60's on the rear with 8' wheels.

Re: My new to me 67 C10
Can I just put springs front and back for now so I can use the 6 lug rim for now What would I look for 3" front and 4 or 5 in the rear

Re: My new to me 67 C10
No experience on this but from what I have read here yo would have trouble with 3" springs in the front. No suspension travel and alignment problems. With 5" in the rear you have to do other things as well. Shock re-locate, new shocks, track bar and possibly c notch the frame. It sounds like you want to lay it on the ground or close.

Re: My new to me 67 C10
Doing the Drop Spindles will keep the Suspension Geometry correct and you will have less wear and tear on tires and other parts.

Re: My new to me 67 C10
drop spindles is definatly the way to go. If you chop the front springs more than 2 coils, the ride will be awful and a lot of shops wont align it.
I really like those wheels! keep the 6 lug for the wheels and get 6 lug disc brakes. You wont regret going disc in the front. Were all here to chip in! I did a mcgoughy 2.5 drop spindle with 6 lug discs and a 1" lowering spring and with the weight of the LS it looks GOOD! going to run 15x7 corvette rallyes in the front and 15x10 in the rears with a5" drop. A 4" drop spring will look good on a long bed as well. In fact, I have 4" rear springs that I mocked up and didn't use! (performance online) let me know if youd be interested in getting them.

Re: My new to me 67 C10
Before you drop a bunch of money install a set of rear 4" drop springs and pull your front springs and cut 1 coil off and find a factory front sway bar . , That should give you a 2"/ 4" drop and cost less than $125.00 . drive it and then decide if it works for you or you want to go lower and spend more $
![]() Once you start going lower you'll need a lot more parts and time , $ . When you decide to go drop spindles with disc brakes and lower rear springs you'll also need new ball joints ,etc etc thats when it all starts . ![]()
