Re: Thought’s on Repop Black Dash Pad ?

I bought the one from Summit. It fit well and looked good on my daily driver. With that said, if you want one for a super nice restoration or a high end show truck I would keep looking. The top was a little wavy near the windshield. Probably because it has no metal inside like the original one.It was definitely good enough for my beater. I don't recall who made it though.

Re: Thought’s on Repop Black Dash Pad ?

I got mine from Truck Parts at the Portland swap meet. I had no issues with the installation. I was careful not to over torque the nuts from the bottom and it came out nice and even. However during my later installation of speakers in the center of the dash I made the decision to use the dash pad nuts to help hold the speakers and that did cause the pad to deform as I got too heavy with the torque thinking more about keeping the speakers solid and not about how that would affect the pad. DHOO!

Re: Thought’s on Repop Black Dash Pad ?

I bought a Bright Blue one for my Maui Blue '71 Jimmy from Brothers years ago, and it's held up OK. I did have to send the first one back because the threads on the extreme left stud [Drivers side above the AC ball] was galled. They sent a good one out forthwith. It later got touched with a splotch of battery acid from a battery sticker and discolored in that spot, but that was my fault.
On my '68 Stepside, I chipped all the old gray vinyl pieces off the OEM dashpad, and recovered it with Saddle naugahyde, from a bolt I had my seats recovered with. It came out good. That was in the '80s before LMC and the internet, even. Still fine.

I also bought one from Truck Parts and the fit is good. Not great or show quality and it had a few waves in it but after a few hot days in the sun, I was able to push most of them out and re-tighten the nuts under the dash to get it flatter than it was out of the box. My truck is a driver and it was plenty good enough for me.

Mine, (black), was given to me by my wife that she purchased from a local parts vendor here in Vancouver, (same box) - and looks great. Also was sure to carefully tighten to avoid any warpage....

Any pics of the dash warpage?
The original dashes can be recovered, might need a seam in it but it looks good.
