LT1 t56 shift issues

Has anyone installed a silver sport transmission front shifter relocation kit on one of these trannys? I just did and have the truck back together and it seemed to shift ok on the bench but in the truck when you let the clutch out it immediately slams it out of first. It feels as though the shifter isn’t traveling far enough to fully engage the gear. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Was it working fine in the truck before you installed the shifter relocation kit?
Hydraulic release bearing I assume? Is that all the same as before?
Or is this all new stuff, first time in the truck for all of it?

Re: LT1 t56 shift issues

This is the first time in the truck. New motor and trans this year. The trans was used but bench tested ok so I took it apart and installed that kit and had a few hiccups putting it back together but eventually got it worked out or so I thought. Bench tested after the install and everything seemed to work. The shifter action seemed a little notchy in neutral but I figured maybe it was because it was dry and what not. I have experience with rebuilding 4 speeds and usually if you have something out of place they won’t go together and operate at all. Also 2nd 3rd and 4th feel good as far as shifter engagement and 5-6 and reverse is iffy. There could be something wrong with the trans being that it was used but it just seems strange that the other gears feel ok. Looking for ideas I guess. Also the clutch is a McLeod street pro and the clutch linkage is from captainfab with a stock slave cylinder and that seems to be working right as far as the clutch engaging and disengaging.
