Engine mount questions
I'm replacing the engine in my '67 after I pressure wash and clean up the frame and suspension.
So my question is, is it easier to remove the frame mounts as pictured and bolt them to the new engine mounts first; or leave them in place and just try to line up each bolt to the engine mount to the stands when going back in? |

Re: Engine mount questions
Leave them as-is
I'd straighten out the trans first though |

Re: Engine mount questions
I would loosen the bolts on the frame mounts so you have a bit of play to make it easier to get the center motor mount bolts to start as you lower the engine.
Here is a link to a couple of motor mount tips. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=773824

Re: Engine mount questions
I would also loosen the frame mount bolts, so that they can wiggle a bit. It's a pain to loosen and re-tighten them, but totally worth it.

Re: Engine mount questions
Would this be the time to convert the mounts to the single center bolt style somehow? If so, what would be needed?
I have my motor out right now and yeah it was a PITA to change the mounts when I bought the truck.

The attached pic is from another group and is a '79 C10 - wonder what it would take to convert to this style? |

Re: Engine mount questions
Can you show a picture of the standard and single bolt style that you guys are talking about, side by side? I would like to know what you're talking about.
