68 fuel sending unit issue, need info
Fuel gauge never worked since I bought my C20 about 3 years ago. It took running out of gas 3 times to push enough to deal with it. Well that and a tank full of sediment clogging my fuel filter.
So I bought a tank at Carlisle and a sending unit from Summit(made by Keystone) Original unit has threaded stud for wire while replacement has a stud that looks like it would use a clip on connector. Ok, I decide to try another supplier and go with the truck shop which is a Counter Part unit that also has a clip on stud. Should it be threaded or clip on? Where can I get a clip on connector for one of the replacements? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Joe |

This is what my 67 looks like. Can you post a photo of the new one? Then we will be able to help.

Re: 68 fuel sending unit issue, need info
I use a wire connector to fasten mine to the sender. One end holds the wire, the other identical end slips over the connector. I preferred the old screw-on ones, but they seem to have gone the way of the dodo.

Re: 68 fuel sending unit issue, need info
I just did mine . Got it from parts geek. It does have the push on terminal but I took the nut off that holds the terminal and put the wire under it. Been working fine for the last few months

Re: 68 fuel sending unit issue, need info
Thank you everyone for the pictures and info, I appreciate it.
I ended up doing the same thing Mark did and used the nut and limited threads on the new sender. Works great, full gauge is on the high side of the full mark when full which I can live with. Thank you again, Joe |
