47 thriftmaster stock brakes

How much free play should the threaded rod have that comes from the brake pedal to the center of the master cylinder?

You have to have the return spring on it to pull the rod back from the piston in the master cylinder but if you have measurable movement between the rod and piston you are good. You should be able to lay under the truck and reach up and pull the pedal arm down and see the movement of the slack. I'd say between 1/16 and 1/8 should be good. Main thing is that every time you release the pedal you get that slack.
