lots of fans for the 53.

1. 12 volt A/C with remote condenser and drier. I have "Old Air" inside kit.
2. Drag race radiator, front. Goes under the truck. Will be fed with Mazeire 20 GPM electric pump to cool the engine after shut down or as a secondary cooling system if needed.
3. drag radiator rear.
4. Custom 250 amp alternator from Mechman. Large hairpin duel rectifier.
5. Primary radiator, will be fed with high flow mechanical pump. Two 1 1/4" cores with 3300 CFM fan.

Wow, that should take care of that blown I-6. Got enough room? I know lots of us are eager for more pics of that beautiful engine.

I think it would be very wrong to say "Cool!" Very impressive though. That's a lot of surface area. And a lot of coolant!

Something to consider about the alternator. We use high output alternators in many of our fleet vehicles. In our applications the vehicles tend to discharge while idling and traveling at low speed then the alternator must provide charge as the engine accelerates. Many of the small case, high output alternators available today have lifespans of 12 to 18 months. The electronics simply don't tolerate the heat generated during the high amperage recharge cycles and the alternator is too compact to create the right environment for proper cooling airflow. Some of the European carmakers are actually using water cooled alternators (BMW and Audi come to mind) to increase alternator life. We've used dual rectifier alternators before and they do seem to live longer but if you end up with a problem you might want to consider a way to provide more cooling to the alternator or even changing to a dual alternator system.

When I was talking to Mechman we discussed a 340 amp unit. He said the 340 amp unit would run hotter for some reason. I'll be running an aux. battery to power the drag race radiator fan and give me the ability to pre-cool the truck with the 12 volt A/C with a remote start type setup without the start part. I also have my head engineer working on a 12 volt scissor lift of about 4 feet for the bed (1000 pound limit). It will run Acme screws with 12 volt motors. I'm going to try to incorporate these radiators into my X bracing. Mechman says the alt. will charge 160 amps at idle. This is a large cace gm alt. They were great and we spent an hour or so on the phone talking about my needs. I also plan on running a DC charger battery isolator so as to not overload the alt. if the secondary is discharged. Still learning about this stuff so I talk to a lot of experts. That's why I love this forum. On a couple of the other forums I would have been called all kinds of names by now. Thank you. Sorry so long winded.

I'm polishing the covers and painting the fins now. I'm still waiting on my 12 port alum. crossflow head but it should be cast any day and can go to the machinist so I hope it's not too far off. The A/C is 14" X 14" and drag radiator is 14" X 16". They will go between the frame rails. Still a work in progress. Thank you.

Interesting idea. We deal with acme screw motors on wheelchair lifts. The lift mechanisms sometimes get bound up so there are mechanical releases built in. Most lift makers today have switched to hydraulic cylinders for commercial lifts.

Keep up the good work.
