Bed mounts - is this correct?

1971 Chevy stepside SWB. I removed all the rotten wood. I see the 2 bed cross sills closest to the can have what look like CPVC looking spacers between the sill and frame mount. Is this correct? Doesn’t seem like it. I don’t see anything in LMC that mentions them. Bed is level, body lines appear to match up. Are they supposed to be there?

No that is not right. That looks like a homemade body lift. Bed should at the most have thin rubber pads. Some were metal to metal.

No, that's not right. I have new pads to replace mine and there rubber, about 2" square and not much over 1/4 or so thick.

Mine was metal on metal. Going to add some type of pad when it goes back together.

What do the cab mount bushings look like? Would seem with that much of a spacer in the bed they must have lifted the cab too.

Hmmm. And it’s just the two forward most sills. The others are metal on metal. Seems like that would make it angled. But the gap between the cab and bed it even. I’m so confused

I agree about the body lift. What i don’t understand is that it’s only two sills. No the all. And the cab isn’t. And the front end isn’t.

Wonder if those sills are incorrect and not tall enough.

I guess it’s possible the rear sills are too tall or the fronts are too short. Do these look like they are in the correct place?

Any idea where I can get height dimensions of the different sills?

I think the front of your bed is too high. Probably not as high as those PVC would indicate though, looks like maybe only 1/4-1/2".

You also have spacers to make up for the bed wood missing... are those the same width as a bedwood board?

Are you sure the cab mounts are right?

Your frame mounts look correct. My truck is a verified factory shortbed stepside.

It does look like it. The gap between the bed and cab is pretty even. The top of the bed front and rear is both 41”. The pvc looking spacer are at least and inch or inch and a half. The bed wood spacers are 3/4” just to not pinch the gap.

I’m hoping to see some shortbed sills both for sizes and placement. Mine could be incorrect. Or placed wrong. It’s an original SWB not cut. But lots of donor trucks make it up I am finding.

That’s a great picture thank you! I’m glad that is correct. Maybe my sills are incorrect. Are they all different or are some the same/interchangeable? A couple of mine look similar but some bolts are in inside holes and some are in the outside holes

My front two mounts were both +/-2-1/4" high so I think you have the right ones.

I attached a couple more pics. Cab mounts are pretty toasted. That’s what I was looking into. Then I found the ones in the bed and was looking for those but didn’t see any in any catalogs. Come to find they shouldn’t even be there.

Seems like if I replace the cab mounts and take the bed spacers out the bed will be lower than the cab (cab raised by new mount and bed lowered with spacers removed)

The sills are all 2 1/4” which LMC shows them all being the same. I think the thinner sill (above the rear end) might be in the wrong spot. If I remove the spacers, that will be the pivot point making the rear sill float up in the air as the fronts lower,

Bed to cab gap is a little off. It’s about 1-1/4 on the bottom and 2” on top. So about 3/4” different. Spacers are 1-1/4”
