1 piece side window
Has anyone installed or got any pictures of a one piece side windowfor an 86 bodystyle? I seen one once in a truck magazine but it was on a 72 chev. This one piece window takes away the need for that noisy vent window and really cleans up the. A company name would be greatly appreciated too.
Anybody know what I'm talking about? Thanks. |

Nobody makes a kit, mostly due to the curved galss (67-72 is flat). If you find one, let us know!

I contacted a couple of companies that makes the one piece kit for the 67-72 trucks. They did not offer a kit for the 73-87, and did not show any interest in making one.
I offered them a guarenteed sales of 10 units to help cover the R&D cost. I couldn't get anyone to take my offer on it.

N2Trux maybe you could post a poll on here and other sites to get a count on who might be interested if the cost is decent and supply them with a list. I am sure you could come up with more than 10 just from this site alone.

Here's a pic that I kept specifically for the reason that it has one piece side glass. I don't know how he did it, but they've never offered a kit to do it.

I dont see any glass in that pic?
Brothers one of the companies who sells the kit for pre 73 trucks told me on the phone with the curved glass in the after 72 trucks. It will never happen the cost is to great to ever sell any. He told me it will never happen not matter how many people say they want them.

There is no side glass in the truck pictured, there were other shots a while back on the board that indicated that. Oh well

I would buy it. How much could it possibly cost to reprduce once the pattern is made up??? I would pay up to around $800 for a complete kit.

This truck comes up on every topic about one piece glass for our trucks and i remember someone saying. That truck has plexi glass or lexan windows and that they just pop in and out. |

I have see trucks with one piece side windows too. They weren't glass though. They used Lexan. That's not bad, unless you want to roll your window down... |

I was told by a rep from Vintage Glass that they were working on a kit for our trucks, and that they actually had a prototype. He could have been full of bs though.

Thanks for clearing up that it doesn't have any side glass. I wasn't sure if it did or not due to the fact that the window is "rolled down" so to speak.

I am working on this, but it has been held up due to funds and I was wanting a patent on it. The problem is you can just make a glass to fill the whole and be done, there is ALOT more work involved.

couldnt one be made out of plexi or lexan fairly easily. obviously would be way more scratch prone than glass but would be doable for the average person to make.
